Metal Building & Shop Insulation for North Texas Heat
Metal building and shop insulation solves two problems at once in Tarrant County. Bare steel soaks up sun and turns a shop into an oven in summer, and when the inside is cooled or humid air meets a cold panel in winter, water condenses and drips on tools, vehicles and stored goods. Closed-cell spray foam bonded to the panels adds insulation and an air and vapor barrier in the same pass.
What we insulate
Steel walls and roofs of shops, garages, barns and small commercial buildings; overhead and walk doors; the transitions where panels meet the slab and the eave. Older buildings with torn faced fiberglass can be cleaned up and sprayed over, or the old blanket removed first if it is holding water.
How thick
Closed-cell foam runs around R-5 to R-7 per inch (HomeGuide). One to two inches is enough to stop condensation on many buildings; a building that will be air conditioned all summer usually gets more. We match the thickness to how you plan to use the space.
Before we spray
We check for roof leaks, loose fasteners and rust, and talk about wiring and plumbing runs that should go in first. Some building uses need an ignition or thermal barrier over the foam; we tell you when that applies.

Metal Building & Shop Insulation Questions
Will foam stop my metal building from sweating?
Closed-cell foam on the panels keeps warm, humid air off the cold steel, which is what causes the drip.
Can you foam over the old fiberglass blanket?
Sometimes, if it is dry and well attached. Wet or torn blanket should come out first.
Do I need to empty the shop?
Large items can stay if they are covered and moved away from the walls. We go over it before the job.
Can you insulate just the roof?
Yes. The roof takes most of the sun, so roof-only is a common first step.
